HOOVER HED 6612 White Dishwasher

The origin of the Hoover Company dates back to 1908. Though that took place in Ohio, it turned out to be a United Kingdom registered company later on in 1919. There, in no time it flourished as the market leader in the floor-cleaning segment. Later in 1985, it merged with an American company only to be bought by Candy Spa, an Italian company based in Brugherio, in 1993. Today Hoover, better known as Hoover Candy Group, manufactures household appliances and has ‘employee- strength’ of over thousand hands in U.K. alone.

The Unique Power Centre Spray Action

Hoover claims that their Hoover white dishwasher designs are amongst the toughest and smartest in the market. They forward a unique theme of ‘Power Centre Spray Action’, to substantiate their claim. The Hoover HED 6612 Freestanding Dishwasher is one of their prided collections that adorn the current market. A free standing type with the standard feature of ‘12 place settings’. It has a 6 level washing cycle programme and an additional intensive cycle option for tougher stains at 4 temperature variations. Auto half load facility is engaged to cut down the power, water and detergent consumption. Hoover has smartly furnished this model with a few ‘safe stop baskets’ too for extra precision. This can be rated a pretty good machine considering, in addition to all these prime features, it functions at a decent noise level amounting to lesser than 52 dB.

Remarkable features

Hoover HED 6612 Dishwasher is obviously an economy product when it consumes just around 1.05 kWh of energy, about 16 litres of water and standard detergent amounts. This freestanding dishwasher exhibits a fairly decent drying performance. These facts are substantiated by the ‘A’ level ratings it has acquired in the related tests. Additional features that are not of lesser importance include, an LED display counter, a quick wash option, a pre-rinse treatment option, rinse aid and salt indicators and adjustable water softener and racking.

Overall the HED 6612 is a sleek machine at 85 x 60 x 60 (cm) dimensions and with stainless steel interiors it is sturdy too as promised by the Hoover group. The available colour option is white.

Bought one in 2008. Main pump packed up 1 day outside 12 month guarantee. Part will cost £94 plus labour. Contacted Hoover was told absolutely rigid rule 12 months and not a day more. They offer 5 year free parts warranty, only catch you must call out their engineer to replace the part minimum cost £90+.
I won’t be buying another Hoover would you?

Barry, I was about to buy one of these today. Thank you for the warning. I will think again. My current dishwasher is a Zanusi 23 years old and never a single problem.
Is still going strong, but is falling apart with rust. Friend has a Siemens 18 months old cost about £500.00 and has a similar problem to you, but new pump is £200.

This doesn’t appear to take normal sized plates. Fitted machine today, put a plate in and the spray arm doesn’t rotate as plate appears to be too big

Got something to say?
